I had always taken an interest in our various homes and gardens but found it hard to source different accessories at affordable prices. So within 6 months I had left my job with Derbyshire Careers Service and found an ideal shop, perfect location, 2 miles from Chatsworth House in the Peak National Park. Now 3 years on the original shop has expanded two fold. Not bad for somebody who wanted life a little easier, but loves every minute. We are special, only because the staff are brilliant and work incredibly hard to promote the shop. We do really value our customers and they are very loyal to us, thank goodness.

Janet - Shop Manager

25 years of retail experience under her belt, working at Marks and Spencer. Starting on the shop floor to progress to a senior position in personel. Janet is a great organiser, introducing various systems to enable the shop to function effectively and has a lovely manner when dealing with our customers.

Anne

Is responsible for our planting service called 'Planted' Anne has an excellent flair for putting together plants and containers

Jill

	Jill has many years experience in retail, she manages the furniture side of Avant Garde - she brings her own individual style to the shop.
Avril
	Joined the team in late 2006, bringing 10 years of retail experience to the team.

Johnny Boy
My lovely patient husband, who is also our accountant, very important man in many ways, firstly he pays the wages and keeps me on the straight and narrow, cash flow is always a problem for any independent business, it is always a fine line.

We have two other great ladies who are very much part of the Avant Garde team:

Janice
Our young mum, who works mainly on Sundays, so her lovely husband Carl can look after their 2 young children.
